Random Movie Question Offered Purely to Instigate Discussion

Okay, it doesn't make a great acronym. I'm working on that.

From time to time I'd like to ask some random questions -- I find it helps my "movie memory." Plus, movie arguments are fun.

So, in honor of the upcoming Kevin Costner blockbuster (or merely "bust") Swing Vote, here's this week's question:

Who is your favorite movie president?

Off the top of my head:
Peter Sellers in Dr. Strangelove "You can't fight in here. This is the War Room."
Michael Douglas in The American President (despite the pretentious title)
Morgan Freeman in Deep Impact (underrated movie)
And, of course, Harrison Ford in Air Force One, where he shot more people than Dick Cheney.

Anyone who nominates Bill Pulman from Independence Day will be mocked and banned.

Bill Pullman - Independence Day. "We will not go silently into the night. We will not perish without a fight. We are going to live on! We are going to survive! Today is our Independence Day!" Cue emotional music. What a fantastic role only to be outdone by Jeff Goldblum. Also the cardboard cutout of George Dubya in Jesus Camp recalls fond memories.

Okay sarcasm aside, and even though is probably cheating:

Anthony Hopkins as John Quincy Adams in Amistad.

Okay, definitely Dave from Dave. I know he wasn't REALLY the Pres, but who cares? He wielded the power, yo.

Also, High Chancellor Sutler from V for Vendetta (kind of a Pres character), Emperor Palpatine from Jedi (and really not the pre-series as much, although he was good in Revenge), Gene Hackman from Absolute Power (he was a sick-o), and the Pres from Superman II. You know, the one that cried on national television.

what is the name of that actor that played the president in that Aliens vs. Will Smith movie where the white house exploded?

Brilliant call on the cardboard cutout of W. He was fantastic.

I think honorable mention should go to Barack Obama for his stunning portrayal of a president during his trip to the Middle East and Europe.
